The Department came into existence in 2007. The department is offering Kannada as an optional paper and also a subject of language. The department has recorded good results in university examinations. To support the students in their all-round development the department organizes various programmes such as Karanthara Chintane, Kanakadasa Upanyasa, Gamaka Vachana etc.
